The Trading Post is a meeting place for many River Rafting Companies, Bike Tour 
Groups, Scouts and  others. Plan on meeting your friends here. We have books, maps, 
literature and good information on hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, sightseeing
 and river, road and trail conditions.


Fishing Baker Lake (Whatcom Co.) or Shannon Lake (Skagit Co.), chumming permitted. Mix a can of Mackerel with your chum.
                 Bait: Pautzke egg with a Maggot.

3.4 miles south of 
Darrington , on the
Mountain Loop, the Old
Sauk Trail takes you on 
a level 3 mile walk 
along the river and
     thru Old Growth Forest.

Large Bald Eagle in a tree by  the bridge at Howard Miller Park on the Skagit River. One of the largest concentrations  of Bald Eagles in the lower 48 is on the Skagit River in January and February. Best viewing is from Rockport to Marblemount. Watch for The Bald Eagle  Festival on the Skagit River in early February.

  • An adult male black bears can be 6' long and weigh 225 lbs.
  • Black bears can be black, brown, cinnamon, or reddish-blonde in color.

One mile up the North Fork of the 
Sauk road is the trail head for the 
North Fork Falls. Falls are about
300 yards from road. One mile 
past the trail head is a trail to a
grove of old Cedars. Cindy is 
sitting by the largest. Grove is 
about 200 yards from the road.
Well worth the drive and walk.
